Pontefract Castle: Dungeon Tour - Sunday, 27th March 2022, 11:30am

Travel back through the castle's history with one of our fabulous staff members as your guide and discover the origins of this historic monument.

Soak in the atmosphere of this eerie underground space, discover the history of the dungeon and see where Civil War prisoners left to languish scratched their names into the rock.

Spaces are limited to a maximum of 10 people on each 45 minute tour and you must be able to navigate a very steep flight of stairs in order to take part.

Useful to know

The tour involves going underground via steep steps with low light levels, small spaces, uneven ground and damp conditions. Sensible footwear is strongly recommended.

Face coverings are recommended for all those over the age of 11 - unless you are medically exempt.

How long is the tour? Tours last around 45 minutes.

Is it suitable for young children? The tour is not suitable for very young children (under 5's) and babies / children cannot be carried up or down the steps due to the risk of falling.

Can I get a refund if I can no longer attend? Tickets are non-refundable.

Will I get a refund if the Castle cancels the tour? Yes, refunds will be issued in this case.

Can I bring a dog on the tour? No. Dogs must be left at the dungeon entrance with a member of your group.
