Polotechnics: Sepehr, Madie Mane (aka Maral), Ensoul

This month Polotechnics spotlights the Iranian diasporic underground with the return of New York City-based sonic maverick Sepehr for an anticipated live set the Toronto debut of Madie Main (aka Maral) an emerging dynamic DJ who now calls our city home along with Kourosh Dehghani (aka Ensoul) delivering a classic high-energy DJ set. A fusion of electro drum and bass and ghetto techno inspire Madie Mane expressive outsider electronics psychedelic techno and heady electro reign with Sepehr and off-the-wall retro synth house and Italo tunes come with Ensoul’s signature tongue-in-cheek attitude. Polotechnics shines a light on international and local artists from the Iranian diasporic underground shifting and broadening perspectives of Persian electronic music. From high-energy dance beats to contemplative sound art Link Music Lab’s new series invites a range of genres such as EBM electro techno acid and all things synth. Polotechnics is a portmanteau of “Technics” the Japanese brand name for a line of high-end audio equipment the game of polo an Iranian invention and the Farsi word for rice also polo aiming to nourish the soul by expanding perceptions of Iranian electronic music.
