OOGA presents John Leonard on Oklahoma Native Trees and their Butterflies and Moths. It will be a fun talk and will teach you where to look for cool caterpillars and interesting tree choices for bringing beautiful butterflies and moths into your growing space.
John is the manager of the Mollie Spencer Farm in Yukon. Prior to that he started an organic produce and plant farm that he ran with his mom for 20 years. Through his years of varied farm work and education, he has become a passionate advocate and educator for pollinators and the systems required for them to thrive. He is a long-time beekeeper and a Certified Pollinator Steward through Pollinator Partnership and has recently received his certification as a Community Forester through OKC Beautiful. He and his partner live in an urban farming community where they enjoy nerding out on the diverse insect population among the expansive pollinator habitat that has replaced many of the lawns on their block.
