Join us for the 2027 Polish American Youth Academic Summit (PAYAS), hosted by Junior PAMS, part of the Polish American Medical Society.
This year's summit explores a defining question in modern healthcare: As medicine moves forward at unprecedented speed, are we witnessing progress, disruption, or both?
PAYAS 2027 brings together medical students, residents, fellows, physicians, advanced practice providers, and researchers for a dynamic morning featuring scientific presentations, competitive research posters, interactive medical debates, and networking with healthcare leaders.
Event Highlights
1. Scientific Research Presentations & Poster Competition
Support the next generation of healthcare professionals as they present original research, clinical studies, case reports, and innovative scientific projects.
Selected participants will have the opportunity to:
- Present their research to physicians, researchers, and fellow healthcare professionals.
- Discuss their findings and receive feedback from experienced medical professionals.
- Participate in a judged scientific poster competition.
- Compete for academic recognition and research awards.
- Build professional connections and explore opportunities for future collaboration.
Call for Abstracts: Submissions are open through December 21, 2026, at 11:59 PM CST.
Abstract eligibility, submission categories, and competition requirements are available through the official abstract submission form. In-person presentation is required for award eligibility.

2. Interactive Medical Debates: The Future of Healthcare
One of the highlights of PAYAS 2027 will be a series of three structured debates exploring some of the most important questions facing modern medicine.
Debate 1: Artificial Intelligence vs. Clinical Competence
Is AI making clinicians better at their jobs, or could increasing reliance on technology weaken independent clinical reasoning, diagnostic skills, and medical judgment?
Debate 2: AI-Powered Virtual Healthcare: Access vs. Patient Safety
Could AI-driven virtual medical visits revolutionize healthcare accessibility, or do they create unacceptable risks when technology replaces direct clinician-patient interactions?
Debate 3: GLP-1 Medications: The Future of Long-Term Weight Management?
Should GLP-1 medications become a standard long-term treatment strategy for obesity, or do questions surrounding sustainability, side effects, cost, and long-term dependence warrant a more cautious approach?
Audience participation is encouraged!
Attendees will have the opportunity to vote before and after the debates, allowing us to explore how evidence, discussion, and differing perspectives influence opinions.
3. Networking, Mentorship & Professional Development
PAYAS is more than a research conference. It is an opportunity to connect generations of healthcare professionals.

Continue the Celebration at the PAMS Physicians Ball
PAYAS 2027 takes place on the same day as the annual Polish American Medical Society Physicians Ball.
The evening celebration brings together physicians, healthcare professionals, and supporters of the Polish-American medical community while raising funds for scholarships supporting students of Polish heritage.
We encourage attendees traveling to Chicago to participate in both events!
