Polari: Open Decks

Are you queer? Have you been mixing in your basement, bedroom, or living room and wondered if you have what it takes to please a crowd? Polari will be hosting an open decks Thursday nights at Franky Bradley’s / B. West (@frankybradleys).
Rules of the night:
1. Signup: There will be a physical signup sheet. First come, first serve so arrive as early as you can to find Firestone (@like.the.tires) to sign up for the slot you want.
2. Set slots: Each slot will be a hard limit of 20 mins so curate well and give us your best stuff, but try not to go from 0 to 100 too quickly!
3. USB: Bring a USB formatted with FAT-32 (Windows Disk Manager) / MS-DOS (OS X and macOS Disk Utility; make sure to select Master Boot Record [MBR] for your BIOS partition table and NOT GUID). The exFAT file system will NOT work properly. Use Rekordbox to analyze and load your music to your device.
4. Genres: Let’s keep in mind what time your slot could be and remember our setting. As a DJ, you need to be able to play to a specific audience and the time of night (when?), setting or location (where?), and demographic matters (who?)! So remember, it’s the gayborhood and we’re on from 10pm to 2am.
5. Code of conduct: Remember that this is still Polari! Our standard code of inclusivity and queer centering is at play so let’s keep the music fun and free of any ableism, racism, sexism, transphobia (sorry but no short dick man lol), and any and all other -isms, please! Police yourself on this as, for a DJ, if you’ve done fucked up, the audience will let you know! 😂
