POLAR NIGHTS
Winter is long, cold, and harsh in the far North, especially for polar explorers from the beginning of the 20th century.
This play tells the story of a full polar night with 3 explorers. For months, they live together in an igloo on the ice cap.
What happens to them, overwintering in the dark, cold, and isolated North Pole? We see their daily life, their comradery, their research, their struggles, their resourcefulness, and how to (barely) stay sane in the months-long darkness.
Are these researchers doing this out of a passion for unchartered territories, an obsession with being the first, or are they -frankly- a little mad?

Inspired by his residency in the Arctic Circle, Gael created this unscripted play to explore our relationship to isolation, the relationships we develop with our peers, and the ownership humanity has always felt over nature, even when we are doomed.
