About this Event
Join writer and filmmaker Jamal Mehmood for this free workshop exploring the imagery and storytelling of poetry in translation.
Through exploratory exercises we’ll be considering how you can use translated poetry as prompts in your own work, as well as discussing literal translations and how they can benefit your understanding as a writer. With a focus on Urdu and some Arabic, throughout the workshop we’ll also be exploring poetic forms like the ghazal, and the oral tradition.
No previous experience or knowledge of Urdu or Arabic necessary.
