BIO: Cortney Davis is the author of five poetry collections, most recently "I Hear Their Voices Singing: Poems New & Selected" and "Daughter." She is the author of three award winning memoirs and co-editor of three anthologies of creative writing by nurses. Honors include an NEA Poetry Fellowship, three CT Commission on the Arts Poetry Grants, and two Center for the Book Awards. Her poems have appeared in Poetry, Hanging Loose, Bellevue Literary Review, Nostos, Hamilton Stone Review, Intima, Witness, The Sun and other journals and anthologies. She is poet emerita of Bethel, CT.
On June 16th Cortney will facilitate a Poetry Writing Workshop that will be all about using our senses (what we see, hear, taste, remember, etc.) to create a poem alive with vivid imagery and emotional impact. After a fun warm-up writing exercise, we will move on to a multi-part prompt. Bring plenty of paper for writing and a few sheets of blank paper. Be ready to do some of your best and most exciting writing!
