Join us for an evening of readings with New England poets Sarah Anderson, Alessia Hughes, and Kevin King!Sarah Anderson holds an MFA in poetry from the Warren Wilson Program for Writers. She has 20 years of high school teaching experience, and currently teaches 8th grade and 10th grade English at Berwick Academy in southern Maine. With her husband, she owns and operates The Word Barn in Exeter, NH, a gathering space for literary and musical events, where she runs a reading series (The Silo Series) as well as various creative writing workshops. Her poems have appeared in various journals, including December Magazine, Raleigh Review, and North American Review. She is the author of We Hold On To What We Can (Loom Press, 2021).
Alessia Hughes, a native of Boston, Massachusetts, is a writer and poet, focusing on telling stories through poetry and descriptive prose. Since her days in elementary school, Alessia has always loved to read and write, constantly filling up countless notebooks as a teenager. She continues to use her writing and editing skills in her professional career, as well as through telling stories. A 2020 graduate of Loyola University Maryland, Alessia continues to write with the goal of publishing novels.
Kevin King is the author of the novel All The Stars Came Out That Night, Dutton. He is the recipient of a poetry fellowship from the New Hampshire State Council on the Arts and has published in numerous journals, including Ploughshares, Stand, Threepenny Review, etc. His CNF piece, “Back from Abroad,” was published in the Potomac Review. He teaches at Northern Essex Community College.
