Bring your blankets and chairs, snacks and drinks, and friends, and join us at the Solomon Juneau statue for this beloved summer reading series. Poetry in the Park takes place in Juneau Park on the second Tuesday of June, July, August, and September, with rain dates scheduled on the second Wednesday of each month. This season’s events are made possible with support from Juneau Park Friends.
Natalie Eilbert is a poet and journalist from New York. She is the author of Overland (Copper Canyon 2023), Indictus (Noemi Press 2018), and Swan Feast (Bloof Books 2015). Her poems have recently appeared in The Paris Review, The Believer, and Poetry Northwest. She lives and works in Wisconsin.
An Iraqi-American poet, visual artist, and advocate, Jodie Jasim is rooted in passion. Jodie's poetry explores the intersection of her two conflicting identities: an Iraqi immigrant daughter and an American teenage girl. Jodie’s poetry flourished from her visual art practice. She wanted to express and expand her work but felt constrained by the typical artist statement. Through her poetic practice, she hopes to elicit empathy and allow others to understand the complexities of an Arab American identity.
Jay Mollerskov was assembled from spare guitars and various ways of pronouncing “tomorrow”. He collects half-memories and sleeps in a drawer full of thunder. His work has appeared in many places that may or may not exist. https://jaymollerskov.bandcamp.com/
Nakeysha Roberts Washington, M.S. Ed, is a visionary curator and creative director renowned for orchestrating expansive showcases like GENRE’D: Expressions of Blackness and designing arts-integrated programs for institutions such as the Milwaukee Art Museum and the ACLU. As a dedicated art consultant and collector, she serves as a critical steward of Black contemporary art, recently launching a landmark 10th-anniversary exhibition featuring African and African Diasporic works from her private collection.
A prolific writer and performance artist, her diverse body of work—spanning poetry, creative nonfiction, storytelling, and experimental monologues—has been featured at the Billie Holiday Theater, Story Collider, Ruth Arts, and the Wisconsin Triennial, with academic contributions published in Routledge. Beyond her creative practice, Nakeysha is a prominent cultural leader and Director of the Revolutionary Art and Culture Residency, where she facilitates BIPOC-centered arts writing, content creation, and critical film.
