Poetry Open Mic Night

Dear Poets and Poetry Lovers,

Come join us for a night of creativity and expression at St. Elmo's Delray Poetry Open Mic Night! Our featured poet this month is the award-winning, fan-favorite 13 of Nazareth. You won't want to miss this contempary poets raw emotional delivery, combining poetic language with powerful storytelling illuminating themes of spirituality, history, and overcoming adversity.

Following 13's performance all are invited to share their own poems or favorites that express feelings or thoughts that might be hard to say in everyday conversation, provide some lighthearted words that warm the heart and/or even induce a chuckle....the March theme is TRANSITIONS (need we say more).

The event is free and open to the public.

About 13 of Nazareth:
13 of Nazareth is a convergence of Hip-Hop culture, old school R&B/Soul music, scientific spirituality and a child-like love of language. Rhythms that are warm to the heart embedded with lyrics that are challenging to the ear often emerge from this intersection and have resulted in him being labeled a "poet's poet." His writing is elevated without being condescending as it invites seeing from his vantage point without dismissing that of others. 13 of Nazareth encourages each listener/reader to apply what is useful from his work while discarding what is not.

Since making the decision to dedicate his life to his art, 13 of Nazareth has published 8 CD’s, been touring throughout the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, co-founded a publishing company and a poetry awards ceremony, earned several regional and national slam titles, and been featured on television and radio. He also was nominated for a Grammy Award. The golden thread which runs throughout his hip-hop infused poetry is drawn from the looms of various spiritual traditions to weave a tapestry of creative works geared toward the personal and collective healing process.
