Sauga Poetry is Mississauga's hub for spoken word! Come check out our February poetry open mic as an audience member or performer. All levels of experience are welcome.
Location: Daniel's Sales Centre, located at Studio.89
Time: Doors 6 30 PM, open mic 7 - 9 PM
How to perform: Sign up on-site when you arrive anytime before 7 pm!
(NOTE: We have 16 open mic slots available. If there are over 16 requests, the performance list will be based on a random draw of those who sign up.)
Feature bio: Kay Kassirer (they/them) is a spoken word poet and community organizer living on the unceded lands of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh First Nations - colonially known as Vancouver. Kay has toured internationally with their autobiographical poetry, exploring themes of grief, disability, and sexuality. They’ve competed at over a dozen national and international poetry slam competitions, earning their place on several competitive final stages. Kay curated and edited “A Whore’s Manifesto: An Anthology of Writing and Artwork by Sex Workers” published by Thornapple Press. Their work has been featured in Arc Poetry Magazine, Frontier, Foglifter, Button Poetry, and more.
Note: Some members of our community are immunocompromised and so we encourage attendees who are sick to stay home and simply join us for our next event. Masks will be provided at the door for those open to wearing one to support these members of our community.
