Join us as we welcome local poets Traci Brimhall and Cheryl Seely Savage to Prairiewood's Walnut Pond & Educational Pavilion for an outdoor reading of their poetry, surrounded by the natural beauty of the native tallgrass prairie!
This event is free and open to the public.

ABOUT TRACI BRIMHALL:
Traci is the author of five poetry collections, including her latest, Love Prodigal (published in November 2024 by Copper Canyon Press). Her poems have appeared in The New Yorker, The Nation, The New Republic, Poetry, The New York Times Magazine, and Best American Poetry. She is currently a professor of English at K-State, the Poet Laureate of Kansas, and 2025 Poet-in-Residence at the Guggenheim. Her non-fiction debut, The Grief Artist, will be published by Sarabande Books in 2026.

ABOUT CHERYL SEELY SAVAGE:
Cheryl Seely Savage is a professional musician, poet, graduate student, and mother of eight. She is the author of four poetry collections, including Give Me a Fragment, Carve a Place for Me, We Have Time, and Shadowing. She was shortlisted for the 2022 Lascaux Prize in Poetry, and her work has appeared in Exponent II, Inscape, and Manhattan Neighbors Magazine. When she isn’t writing, she can be found practicing the piano, finishing her Master of Music degree, walking at sunrise, reading voraciously, and planning her next travel destination. Cheryl and her family (and three cats) currently live in the Flint Hills of Kansas.

Also on September 28, from 5–7 p.m., join us as the Prairiewood Jazz Series closes out the 2025 season with a very special performance featuring host Nate McClendon with Wayne Goins performing the music of jazz guitar legend Pat Metheny.
Also on September 28, from 4:30-6:30 p.m., Manhattan's newest food attraction, Destination Burrito, will be on-site and serving their burritos, craft tacos, and more! Take a ride on the burrito side!

Fourth Sundays at Prairiewood start at 4 p.m. Come out before the event to hike the trails, play cornhole on the lawn, browse art and artisan goods in Blue Sage Gallery, or grab a drink from Blue Sage Bar.
