Teaching poetry and how to write it can be challenging, so come along to this workshop and learn how to effectively bring poetry into your classroom. Designed to help teachers develop their confidence and embrace poetry as a teaching tool, authors Sarah Webb & Lucinda Jacob and illustrator Ashwin Chacko – creators of I am the Wind: Irish Poems for Children Everywhere – will lead a fun, informative 90-minute session exploring some of their favourite Irish poems and how they might be implemented into your lesson plans.
From well-known classics to more diverse verse, this workshop will introduce teachers to an array of resources for bringing poetry to young learners and encouraging them to pick up a pen and write their own poems.
Sarah Webb is an award-winning children’s writer and children’s book champion. Her children’s books include A Sailor Went to Sea, Sea, Sea and Blazing a Trail: Irish Women Who Changed the World.
Lucinda Jacob is an Irish poet, children’s author, and co-editor of I am the Wind. She facilitates creative writing workshops, has written for children’s TV & radio, and reviews children’s books.
Ashwin Chacko is an Indian author, illustrator and motivational speaker who specialises in positively playful, visual storytelling. His mission is to champion creativity and empower people to find their inner spark.
