About this Event
Join us in the writer's corner for this writing workshop! Writers of all backgrounds and experience levels are welcome.
About the workshop: Writing poetry in times like these is not only a form of resistance in itself, but can also be a form of very needed soul-care, helping us to name what aches so that we can move towards greater wholeness and freedom. Join author and queer feminist poet Grace E. Kelley for a poetry workshop (no experience required) to explore poetry as a mode of personal healing expression that facilitates positive community action. At the end of the workshop, each participant will also get a chance to read their work aloud (if desired), alongside Grace E. Kelley, as she shares a selection of poems from her latest book Daughter of Breath which pushes back on church-sponsored patriarchy, misogyny, and queerphobia—in order to help readers reclaim both their beloved identities as well as a life-giving spirituality.
About the instructor: Grace E. Kelley is a poet, personal essayist, and speculative storyteller. Across the varied genres she explores, she writes with the intent to help her readers name what aches in their own experience, so that they can move towards greater wholeness and freedom. To keep up with her writing journey across the genres, be sure to check out her Personal Essay & Poetry Substack graceekelley.substack.com and her Fiction Substack graceekelleytellmeastory.substack.com .
