Welcome to our 2nd installment of the return of Poetry Brew at creative York! This month’s features are: Maria James-Thiaw and Craig Czury! Two fire house poets you do not want to miss! As always bring some poetry with you to share!
Maria James-Thiaw is a poet, playwright, entrepreneur, and the Central PA Poet Laureate. With over two decades of experience as an educator, she currently serves as an adjunct professor at Harrisburg University. Maria is the author of four poetry collections and the founder of Reclaim Arts LLC and the American Griot Project, where she transforms true oral histories into dynamic stage choreopoems, including Reclaiming My Time and HairStory: Reclaiming Our Crown. She is a member of the Pennsylvania Poetry Society, and her work is featured in numerous national anthologies.
Craig Czury is a poet and Fulbright Scholar from the anthracite coal region of PA, who travels the world giving poetry readings and teaching. He spent his early years hitch hiking North America to work odd jobs, write and study with the master poets of his day. His life has been spent creating poetry projects in schools and universities, prisons, homeless shelters and mental health hospitals around the world. He has just published his new book from Moonstone Press, And If You Saw Me.
