The Poet Laureate Selection Committee invites you to celebrate the appointment of Galena's first ever Poet Laureate. After a brief reception featuring sparkling wine, graciously donated by Galena Cellars, and music by pianist Desiree Irwin, the three finalists will each perform their poetry. The committee is thrilled to celebrate three wonderful poets, Daniel Dahlquist, Lynn Werner, and Theodore Williams.
Galena will be the smallest city in the nation to appoint a Poet Laureate. The position will entail working in the community alongside the Galena Public Library, the Galena School District, the Galena Center for the Arts, and the City of Galena to celebrate the heritage, uniqueness, diversity, and achievements of the City of Galena through the appreciation and art of poetry.
