About this Event
Join the Bank of America Shamrock Shuffle and sustainability advocate Tina Muir for a pre-race plogging event at 12 p.m. on Saturday, March 21. Plogging is a combination of the Swedish term plocka upp (to pick up) and the English word jog. Individuals who join us for the 3K/1.86 mile run/walk will learn more about plogging and how we can pair our passion for running and walking with environmental stewardship to enhance our communities. As we look for more ways to take care of the planet and the people on it, this is an easy and fun way to do our part.
This event is free to attend! Water and snacks will be provided. Please RSVP by Friday, March 20.
Meet-up location: The group will meet at a Zero Waste Station tent located near the northwest corner of Buckingham Fountain for introductions, more information about plogging and a course overview.
Transportation and parking: Buckingham Fountain can be accessed via public transportation. Please visit the Chicago Transit Authority's website for info: https://www.transitchicago.com/. Visit Millennium Parking Garages for nearby parking recommendations: https://www.millenniumgarages.com/.
Join us in donating gently used books and running shoes!
We're partnering with Open Books and Sneaker Impact to upcycle gently used books and running shoes. The impact of these programs support local and global communities, while aligning with our larger sustainability and social impact initiatives. Collection boxes will be available at the meet up location. We hope you will join us in helping to make a positive impact and give your items a second life!
Learn more about each organization by visiting open-books.org and sneakerimpact.com.
