⭐ ABOUT EXHIBIT
A collaborative exhibition between literary artist Pa N. Vue and multimedia artist Maivzeb Lauj exploring how poetic works transform through multimedia art.
"Plhis"—meaning to be transformed—reimagines selected poems from Pa's collection Sawv Tsees Rov Hlo Los as immersive multimodal artforms using digital illustrations, textile works, paper, and mixed media.
Sawv Tsees Rov Hlo Los journeys across time through Pa N. Vue's memories, critically examining how missionization, war, displacement, and assimilation impacted Hmong language and ways of knowing. The exhibition demonstrates how poetic meaning transforms while retaining its core when reimagined through visual art—creating a third space where poetry and visual art exist in dynamic conversation.
🎨 MEET THE ARTISTS
Pa N. Vue is a literary artist, educator, and researcher of Hmong language reclamation. She holds a PhD in Education and writes in White Hmong and English. Her first book of poems, Sawv Tsees Rov Hlo Los, was released in November 2024.
Maivzeb Lauj is a multimedia artist and creative designer based in California with nine years of experience in graphic design, illustration, web design, and multimedia experimentation.
