Join Michael Chesley Johnson for three days of painting in beautiful Palo Duro Canyon. Palo Duro is only second to the Grand Canyon in size yet is its equal in magnificent scenery. During the course of the workshop, you'll learn all the secrets of plein air painting, including how to pick a subject and compose it for the best effect, how to use a split-primary palette to create the magic of light, and how to bring your work to a beautiful finish. Each day starts with a short lecture and critique of the previous day's work, followed by a full demonstration by Michael. Next, students will paint, with Michael going from easel to easel offering help and suggestions. Time permitting, Michael may paint a second demonstration toward the end of the day. The workshop will take place entirely in the field unless there is inclement weather, in which case the class will return to the Amarillo Art Institute facility.
