On Saturday, June 27, the grounds of the Cornwall Community Museum in Lamoureux Park will transform into an open-air studio as a group of artists sets up easels on the lawn to paint, sketch, and interpret the Museum's historic Wood House.
The Plein Air Artists event is part of the Museum's 70th Anniversary celebration series which mark seven decades of preserving and sharing the stories of Cornwall and SD&G.
The event is led by Museum Marketing Committee member Pierre Giroux in collaboration with artists from Focus Art.
"Plein air painting gives an artist an excuse to reconnect with nature—to actually look at things in real life, with changing weather and, of course, lighting," says Giroux. "We hope to demonstrate and share this process within our own means, showcasing what can be done when working outdoors."
Everyone is welcome. Visitors are invited to bring their own materials and create alongside the invited artists—any medium is fair game. Don't forget a chair and perhaps an umbrella!
• Rain Date: Saturday, July 4
Exhibition: Artworks created on June 27 will be displayed inside the Museum on Saturday, July 4. The public is invited to attend and enjoy the many artistic interpretations of the Wood House.
