An immersive dance installation exploring pleasure in relation to queerness and disability
About this Event

pleasure is a place on earth is an MFA immersive dance process exploring pleasure in relation to queerness and disability. There is no final product, only queer and crip ways of existing-outside-of. This experience seeks to discover newfound ways to exist in "performance" spaces. And it invites the audience to do the same.

About the Artists

Alston Tyndall is a dancer, teacher, and performance artist interested in the intersections of queerness and disability. Originally from the American South, her work is largely rooted in the deconstruction of the evangelical church and the narratives surrounding queer bodies and bodies with disabilities. Alston's teaching practices focus on making dance accessible and inclusive for everyone to explore movement safely within the context of their lived experiences.

Brook Vann is a new media artist based in Boulder, Colorado. Brook explores gender and queerness in their work through motion-capture, sound design and data analysis.
Monica Bowker grew up in Southern California but now considers Chico her hometown. Design credits include Assistant Lighting Designer at the Oregon Cabaret and the Utah Festival of Opera and Musial Theatre.

This work was supported by a Creative Residency at the ATLAS B2 Center for Media, Arts & Performance.
