We’re super excited to announce a special one-time screening and soundtrack release for the classic horror film PEOPLE UNDER THE STAIRS. The event will take place at the Plaza Theatre on Thursday, July 22nd at 9pm, co-hosted by our friends from Savannah Terror Vision Records, who are releasing the soundtrack on vinyl (first-time ever!) and cassette. We’ll have merch tables set up in the lobby of the Plaza, so get there early to meet the founders of Terror Vision and peruse their awesome catalog of retro horror soundtrack releases. About the soundtrack, which will be available at the event for purchase:
First-ever vinyl release of the soundtrack for this Wes Craven classic from 1991. Composer Don Peake created an incredibly atmospheric and spooky score for this film. Peake's career is insane –as a guitarist and member of the Wrecking Crew, he’s played on albums by Marvin Gaye, Phil Spector, Everly Brothers, Mahalia Jackson, John Lennon, Jackson Five and more. It's an incredible career and his musical diversity shines on this score. Fun fact: PEOPLE UNDER THE STAIRS opened at #1 on the box office chart and stayed in the Top 10 for a month.

Wes Craven, the director of A NIGHTMARE ON ELM STREET and SCREAM, directs this terrifying journey inside the most demented house on the street. Shockingly ahead of its time, PEOPLE UNDER THE STAIRS is a distinctive urban fairytale, weaving themes of poverty, race and class into its nightmarish tale of gentrification and development.
