Playing the Dozens: Joy and Transformation in Black Women's Literature
A Writing Workshop led by author and professor Nicholas Powers
Sunday, July 28th

Whether it's Zora Neal Hurston clowning W.E.B. Du Bois or Wanda Sykes riffing or poet Tracy K. Smithrhapsodizing on the cosmos; Black women writers have used joy and laughter to transform themselves.
In this workshop, we first introduce the tradition, then begin creative games to ignite writing. Some of the exercises will be Surrealist games like Exquisite Corpse and collage and we will end with a poetic version of The Dozens.
This workshop is free and space is limited.
All are welcome to attend!!
