In this class, we delve into the art of portraying convincing villains on stage. Forget clichés and cartoonish stereotypes — this is not about twirling mustaches or evil laughs. Every great villain believes they are the hero of their own story, and understanding that is key to bringing them to life.

We’ll explore how to ground villainous characters in real emotions and motivations, how to find empathy for them as actors, and how to avoid the traps of overplaying or oversimplifying. Through scene work, character analysis, and discussion, you’ll learn how to make your villains compelling, complex, and deeply human.

We have community standards, a conflict process, and a COVID prevention policy in place. Agreement/acceptance of these policies is required to participate in BATS classes. Please use the links above to access and read these policies, and check the boxes during registration to indicate your agreement/confirmation.
