The next meeting will take place on May 13th at Vocari Hub on 3380 Vincent Road in Pleasant Hill. The party starts at 1 PM and ends at 10 PM. The Legend of Zelda Tears of the Kingdom is a direct sequel to Breath of the Wild which was a launch title for the Nintendo Switch back in 2017. It seems as though it reuses the same map as the first game and the graphics are about the same which might make Tears of the Kingdom feel more like an expansion pack instead of a full blown new game. There are of course new dungeons, caves, and floating islands to explore and Link has some new crafting and traversal abilities to make the game easier to both play and explore so there is new content. Zelda Tears of the Kingdom is single player only and I'll have the game setup at two stations to play during the party. You could also play something else like Smash Brothers or Mario Kart or even try some games on PlayStation or Xbox instead if you prefer. I will provide four pizzas, and Coca Cola to eat at the party. Most of Link's new abilities seemed designed to make the game easier. A lot of people hated how fast weapons broke in Breath of the Wild. Now you can repair a weapon by combining it with the Fuse ability and pretty much any object nearby to get another twenty to forty swings of the weapon until it breaks again. People complained that climbing mountains was tedious. Now you can quick travel to the top of one with the Ascend ability and even place a check point called a travel medallion to respawn at the top in case you fall off. If you screw up a puzzle or mess up a fight you can use the Recall ability to rewind time 30 seconds which will send back attacks, fix vases, or put back falling platforms. Recall is pretty much an undo button. Link even caries a pot with him so he can cook anywhere now, not just in towns or camp fires.
A big new feature is weapon and vehicle crafting. You can use the Fuse ability to combine objects like wheels with logs or fans with rocks to make cars or planes. You can pick up or move objects with the Ultra Hand ability and then use the Fuse ability to stitch one object to another. You can fuse many objects together to create elaborate vehicles sort of like Banjo Kazooie Nuts and Bolts. What limits vehicle creation however are motors and steering wheels which are referred to as Zonai technology in the game. Sometimes you'll find Zonai tech laying around randomly on the ground, but other times you'll have to go to a giant gumball machine to acquire eight random Zonai pieces. You can use vehicles to quickly move across the map and are pretty much the only way to reach the new floating islands that hover above Hyrule. However vehicles need batteries to move which rundown much like Link's stamina meter when he runs or climbs. Link can carry multiple batteries and even upgrade them but generally you'll only be able to operate a contraption for about a minute until it looses power and stops moving. I'm not sure if batteries refill on there own or if you need Zonai charges to power them up again. Also you can save vehicles you've built before like blue prints and quickly replicate them again if you have all the necessary equipment in Link's inventory or it can be found nearby.
