Play Wild

Join us in BCA Grinlow Woods to play, explore and have fun as a family.

Greenwood Growth and Stronger Roots will be running a series of free sessions.

This is a chance for you and your child to immerse yourself in the sights, sounds and smells of our wonderful local woodlands; have fun with others; and play wild.

We will do a variety of fun activities together including games and nature play, forest crafts, climbing and storytelling. All delivered by experienced and qualified Forest School and outdoor practitioners.

If you or your child have never had the chance to do this before, this is the perfect time to give it a try. If you have experienced woodland play before this will provide an excellent opportunity to consolidate and develop your child's outdoor and social experiences.

These sessions are free as part of Buxton Civic Association's Stronger Roots project. It is part of a programme of activities throughout the year and you can learn more about the project here.

How to sign-up - please read before booking: Children must be accompanied by one adult main carer who will need to stay with us throughout the session. We will involve you in the fun! Please book a "Child ticket" for every child who you are bringing. We will ask you for their age to help us plan for the session. You do not need to book a ticket for yourself.

Who is this session for: Play Wild is for children aged 0 - 5 years and their main carer.

Where to meet: Our meeting point is outside Poole's Cavern Visitor Centre, where there is a toilet available. Parking (for a fee) is available at the visitor centre and there is also a cafe.

Arrival time: Please arrive at 9.45am to make sure we can start the day on time and get the most out of it. Late arrivals may miss out on some of the magic, or not find their way into the woods. It's approximately a ten minute stroll of adventure and discovery just to reach our outdoor classroom.

What to bring: Please remember to dress appropriately for the weather - as we will be outside for the 2 hour session. Clothing and footwear suitable for the woods should be worn. Full arm and leg coverage is recommended. Extra layers and waterproof clothing is likely to be required. You may wish to bring water and snacks too.
