Play Reading: "The Good John Proctor" by Talene Monahon

Sun Valley Playwrights Residency is partnering with Boise Contemporary Theater and Boise State University to bring you a very special reading of one of our 26/27 Resident Playwright's plays that put her on the map as a major voice in the American theatre.
The evening begins with a Q&A between Pulitzer Prize Finalist Talene Monahon and Artistic Director John Baker, followed by a reading of The Good John Proctor, which takes inspiration from Arthur Miller's The Crucible and brings Monahon's distinctive blend of historical reimagining, dark humor, and theatrical invention to one of the most famous stories in the American dramatic canon. Named one of The New Yorker's Top 10 Best Plays of 2023, the play was written by Monahon, SVPR's 2026-2027 Resident Playwright and a finalist for the 2026 Pulitzer Prize in Drama.
Directed by Jessica Ires Morris and featuring Boise State University Department of Theatre, Film & Creative Writing students, alumni & faculty.
