Category: Bad bitch! Get ready for the most exhilarating Pride Ball worthy of Queen Bey, featuring guest MC Icon Kevin JZ Prodigy.
About this Event

This event is not affiliated with Beyoncé or Parkwood Entertainment.

Please do not be alarmed, remain calm. Do not attempt to leave the runway. FUNCTION welcomes you to the very first Platinum Pride Ball, an annual ball celebrating the world’s most decorated music icons. In honour of Ballroom’s monumental influence on Renaissance, we’re kicking it off with a tribute to the Queen herself, the girl that rocks diamonds on her neck and diamonds on her records, the female version of a hustla, today’s greatest entertainer, Beyoncé—featuring Icon Kevin JZ Prodigy (Philadelphia, PA) and Father Bambam Siriano on the mic, DJ Karim Olen Ash, and Legendary guest judge Malik Miyake-Mugler Juicy Couture (New York City, NY). Exceptionally for the first year, this is a Kiki ball.

With many thanks to Gilead Sciences, Maggie's Toronto, and Jems for their support.

Doors at 2 PM. LSS at 3 PM.

FUNCTION is a platform for Ballroom-first culture, stories, and events, based in Toronto. Through our work, we focus on uplifting BIPOC and 2SLGBTQIA+ voices and highlighting Canadian Ballroom talent. Since our launch in April 2022, we’ve worked with 17 partners, awarded over C$39,000 to community members, engaged 15 local and international artists, and distributed hundreds of free HIV self-testing kits, condoms, and other harm reduction supplies, leaning on local nonprofit organizations.

Maggie’s Toronto

Founded in 1986, Maggie's Toronto Sex Workers Action Project is one of Canada's oldest sex worker justice organizations serving sex workers across Toronto and the GTA. Maggie’s offers a wide range of programs and services targeting marginalized and underserved communities—participating in anti-poverty organizing, racial justice work challenging police violence, 2SLGBTQ+ liberation work, Indigenous sovereignty and outreach efforts, harm reduction work, and more.

Decades of scientific innovation, community partnership and public health advocacy transformed HIV from an inevitably fatal disease to one that for many can be well controlled and prevented. And we must go further. To do this we will continue to champion innovations, programs and partnerships that support the long-term wellness of all people impacted by HIV until we eliminate the virus from the world. Together, we can end the epidemic for everyone, everywhere.

Jems is a condom and platform for sexual education. Jems condoms are designed for all identities, changing the way we relate to and perceive condom use—it’s one of the many reasons we love them. With their ultra-thin condoms made of natural latex, 100% silicone lube, and nothing more, we know you’ll love them too!

All categories call for an iconic Beyoncé-inspired look. Think performances, album visuals, music videos, award shows, and red-carpet moments. No Ivy Park. You must bring a photo reference for the judges. One trophy and $250 cash per category.
