Planting design workshop
This one-day design workshop introduces you to the how to design with plants in your own
garden.
What you will explore
We invite you to bring in photographs and information about your own garden project. We
will present a range of interesting planting design case studies to inspire you and explain
how the designer has tackled each project. Working as a group we will explore the planting
design challenges in your own garden and offer ideas to help you to select appropriate
plants and make interesting plant combinations suited to the conditions of your garden.
The day will be informal and relaxed. You are free to observe or get involved in the design
discussions.
We will provide all sketching materials, design inspiration and provide some useful
handouts for you to be able to go away and feel more confident to tackle your own planting
design.
Food and drink is available to purchase from The Craft House cafe throughout the day.
About your tutors
Helen Taylor MA, MSGD has been working as a garden designer for 25 years. She
qualified as a Landscape designer in 1988 and worked in Glasgow before returning to
Yorkshire. Helen has been a tutor at local colleges teaching landscape design. She runs
her own successful Garden Design practice, based locally with a broad portfolio of
beautiful gardens across Yorkshire.
Nicky Dyson BA, DipLA, CMLI qualified as a Landscape Architect in 1997. She worked in
London for leading landscape design practices before moving to Yorkshire. Her projects
include - public parks, city squares, Chelsea flower show gardens and private gardens.
She teaches regularly at Landscape Design schools and designs gardens alongside
running an illustration business.
Between Helen and Nicky they have over 60 years of experience in Landscape design and
offer a great deal of expertise, they are passionate about making beautiful spaces!
Skill level
Suitable for beginners as well as more experienced gardeners looking to improve their knowledge of planting design.
