PLANT-O-RAMA 2023 is back "in person" at Brooklyn Botanic Garden!

  • Tuesday, January 31, 9am-4pm: Speakers, Trade Show & Jobs Fair at BBG.
  • $45 TICKET for all talks. Recordings of all talks will be available to ticket holders for at least a year. No refunds.
  • FREE ADMISSION to Trade Show & Jobs Fair. No ticket required.

KEYNOTE SPEAKER: Jared Barnes, Ph.D. (BBG Auditorium)

9am & 1pm: A Plantastic Future. Hear how to sow plant passion, help gardeners take root, graft interests together, and much more. Dr. Barnes is Associate Professor of Horticulture, Stephen F. Austin State University, Nacogdoches, TX.



BREAK-OUT SESSION SPEAKERS (BBG Visitor Center Atrium)

10:30am: Sergio Moncada-Leiva, Getting to 30% Canopy Cover Throughout NYC: Why, Who, and How. Learn about Forest for All NYC, a young and growing coalition of more than 70 member organizations Sergio Moncada- Leiva is coalition manager, Forest for All NYC.

11:30am: Anthony Bulfamante, A. Bulfamante Landscaping; Richard Pacailler, Town & Gardens, Ltd.; Whitney Parkerton, Parker Meadows, Inc. Sustainability Stories: Landscape Contractors Building a Greener Future. Hear from three diverse urban and suburban landscape contracting companies about responsible, changing practices, equipment, and green initiatives building toward a greener future. Moderated by Mark Davies, Higher Ground Horticulture.

1pm: Craig Pine, Navigating the Tsunami of Plant Introductions. The number of new cultivar and trademarked plant introductions for woody plants and herbaceous perennials is staggering and often confusing to buyers in the trade, let alone consumers. Craig Pine is Sales and Purchasing Manager at Half Hollow Nursery.

2pm: Rebecca Kagle, Creating Native Meadows in the Urban Environment; Design through Management. Explore how to design, install, and manage meadows in the urban environment. Rebecca Kagle is a designer at Larry Weaner Landscape Associates.
