About this Event

If you have visited Story Hill Farm in Frankford, then you may have experienced

the breathtaking site of Helen Raleigh’s four-acre wildflower meadow on the way

to the farm that is a sanctuary for dozens of pollinators and birds. If you’ve been

wanting to learn more about benefits of planting habit for the conservation of our

native Delaware species or how to get started with your own backyard meadow

then Helen will share her knowledge of meadow planting based upon the key

elements of site preparation, timing, seed selection, and maintenance.

Delaware native Helen Raleigh started Story Hill Farm in 2019 to restore

pollinator habitats. The core farm boasts 45 plus acres including the wildflower

meadows, cut flower gardens and a distinctive "Cows Save Butterflies" test plot of

native grasses and perennials that feed her endangered heritage breed Randall

cattle and also feed native Delaware pollinators. With a clear message to "Plant for

pollinators and have fun saving the planet," Helen Raleigh serves as an inspiring

example of individual action for environmental preservation, making a positive

impact one meadow at a time.
