Join three of Ann Arbor’s most prominent, up-and-coming female singer-songwriters (Ani Mari, Corazon Szell, Maddy Ringo) for an evening of music, community, and reproductive justice! All ticket proceeds go to Planned Parenthood Michigan to aid in their fight against their defunding by the Trump administration.Ani Mari is an alt-Americana singer-songwriter from the Northwoods of Michigan’s Keweenaw Peninsula, whose songs weave complex chord progressions into heart-wrenching stories and melodies, spanning from roots folk to indie rock. Whether solo, with folk duo Ani & Kora, or with her backing band, Ani has toured nationally and across her home state for over a decade. Her debut album, girlfriend (2023), fights for grace and connection amidst the anxieties, desires, heartbreaks, and oftentimes wearying joie de vivre of being young in America’s heartland.
Corazon Szell (she/her) is a guitarist from Brooklyn, New York and a recent graduate from the University of Michigan – School of Music, Theatre & Dance. Corazon immerses herself in many different music genres and performance settings because she believes it is of the utmost importance to diversify her skillset on the guitar and within music overall. One of Corazon’s greatest prides is being the founder, bandleader, lead guitarist and vocalist for the Ann Arbor, Michigan based indie-folk band North Ingalls.
Since picking up a music career through busking on the streets of Toronto, Maddy Ringo has been a fresh voice in the timeless tradition of American folk music. The daughter of a born-and-bred Canadian and an American peacenik, Maddy learned the Rise Up Singing catalogue as a seven-year-old, laying her foundation in the works of Joan Baez, Arlo Guthrie, Bob Dylan, and the like. Now, based in Ann Arbor at the University of Michigan, she has made her way to the forefront of the Southeast Michigan folk scene with her multi-instrumental songwriting and rich mezzo vocals. Her latest album “People of the Earth and Sea” explores vivid narratives of nature, urbanism, love, and meaning in an ever-changing world.
