About the Facilitator:

Joshua "Ja" Storey boasts a rich background honing his expertise in the realm of astronomy. Over the course of five years, he dedicated himself to mastering the intricacies of telescope operation at Auckland's esteemed Observatory and Planetarium, initially as a volunteer for three years before assuming a formal role on staff for an additional two years.


In response to the challenges posed by the lockdown, Ja seized the opportunity to embark on a new venture, founding Cosmic Vibrations. Over the past two years, this innovative astrotourism project has captivated audiences with mesmerizing astronomy shows hosted in the scenic locale of Piha.


Furthermore, Ja's commitment to promoting responsible stargazing practices is evident through his ambassadorship with the International Dark Sky Association. Collaborating closely with local communities, he has actively initiated efforts to pave the way for Piha's potential designation as an International Dark Sky Reserve, underscoring his dedication to preserving the pristine beauty of our night skies for generations to come.
