About this Event
The 2026 Great Planet Parade
On the evening of February 28, 2026, join us for a rare celestial alignment. Six planets—Mercury, Venus, Saturn, Neptune, Uranus, and Jupiter—will gather in a spectacular "parade" across the sky. This is a family-friendly community event designed to help neighbors look up and explore the wonders of our solar system together.
🔭 Event Highlights
- Free Telescope Station: We will have high-powered telescopes available for public use. While you can see Venus and Jupiter with your eyes, our lenses will help you find the rings of Saturn and the faint, icy glow of Neptune and Uranus.
- Guided Viewing: Astronomers will be on-site to point out the alignment and share fascinating facts about each planet.
👨👩👧 Who Can Attend?
- All Ages Welcome: This event is particularly great for kids (ages 5+) and students.
- What to Bring: If you have your own binoculars, bring them along! A folding chair and a warm jacket are also highly recommended.
⚠️ Weather & Cancellation Policy
Astronomy is entirely dependent on clear skies. Please note the following policy regarding weather:
- Go/No-Go Decision: If the forecast calls for heavy clouds, rain, or high winds, the event will be cancelled. We will send an email notification to all registered attendees by 5:00 PM on the day of the event.
- No Refunds: This is a rain-or-shine financial commitment to our venue and equipment staff. In the event of a weather-related cancellation, no refunds will be issued. We appreciate your contribution to supporting local science education.
