About this Event
Part of the London Festival of Architecture, this walking tour explores how the built environment can help communities feel at home in their neighbourhood. It showcases a mix of recent and emerging projects, delivered with £,1,270,000 support from the Mayor of London’s Good Growth Fund, to examine how investment in public realm, housing and public art can shape everyday experiences of inclusion, identity and ownership.
The route includes 9 stops across Harrow Road, Maida Hill Market and Westbourne Green Canalside, inviting participants to reflect on how design choices can enable or limit a sense of belonging, and how these spaces are evolving through collaboration with local communities.
The tour brings together a range of place-based projects across North Paddington, including public realm improvements, mural artworks, shopfront enhancements and housing developments. Stops include Queen’s Park Canalside, Half Penny Steps, the Harrow Road shopfront improvements, the Great Western Road mural, Maida Hill Market Square, the Westway mural, Westbourne Green Canalside, 291 Harrow Road and 300 Harrow Road. The two housing schemes help illustrate the scale of change underway locally: 291 Harrow Road will deliver 144 homes, including 24 Adult Social Care homes at social rent and 48 additional affordable homes, while 300 Harrow Road has delivered 112 fully affordable homes, including 77 homes for social rent.
The route will start outside Queen’s Park Library and finish at Westbourne Green Canalside.
