For our Spring 2026 Concert, the Duluth Civic Orchestra presents Pièce de Résistance: Symphonic Works of Protest — a free concert featuring five works written in defiance. A symphony broadcast at enemy lines during the Nazi siege of Leningrad. A suffragette anthem conducted from prison with a toothbrush. A banned dance smuggled into a concert hall. Music that refused to be silenced.
Our concert will feature the following:
Florence Price -- Symphony No. 1, Mvt. III "Juba Dance"
Ethel Smyth -- March of the Women
Joseph Haydn -- Symphony No. 45 "Farewell"
Dimitri Shostakovich -- Symphony No. 7, Mvt I "Invasion"
Max Richter -- On the Nature of Daylight
