About this Event
Pixie Cut Rhythm Orchestra
Ireland is bursting with musical talent, but few acts capture the
existential ennui of living in the Irish capital like the "new indie"
power trio Pixie Cut Rhythm Orchestra. Their angular songs are steeped
in melancholy, and not just the typical sorrow of youth, but of trying
to thrive in a city and country becoming increasingly inhospitable to
its young people. And yet, there’s a halo of hope surrounding their
songs.
The band came together while gigging on Dublin’s underground scene.
Drawing inspiration from the likes of David Bowie, The Clash, The
Cranberries, Sinéad O'Connor, Smashing Pumpkins, Breeders, Apples In
Stereo, Courtney Barnett and Elliot Smith.
“[I Didn't Love You when I Said I Did and I Don't Now is] a morose,
yet barbed indie banger exploring young adulthood through a distinctly
Irish lens.” - Clare Martin, Paste Magazine
"Pixie Cut Rhythm Orchestra have steadily built a strong standing in
Dublin’s underground scene. Melding ‘90s rock and grunge motifs, the
trio often recall Pillow Queens in their arrangements and there’s no
doubt they will be embraced with a similar outpour of warmth from
audiences both home and away." - Zara Hedderman, Totally Dublin
Cable Boy
Cable Boy are a 5-piece rock band from Dublin Ireland. Beginning in late 2018 and playing their first couple shows in 2019, the band also dropped their debut project (EP) ‘Whole’ which was met with great reception.
Following the project were a run of support gigs all over Irish venues like the Grand Social for power talents such as Kean Kavanagh.
In 2021, the band played their first post-quarantine gig at Ireland Music week, leading to more opening slots for overseas touring acts such as Juan Wuaters, Spector, Walt Disco and The Lathums in Ireland.
Following a brief hiatus, the band reconvened in 2023 and embarked on a release streak with “When Im With You” , “Smoke and The Light” and “Let’s Go! “ all to positive reception and various radio spot highlights including RTÉ and TodayFM.
2024 has not seen the band slow down with placements at Electric Picnic and Ireland Music Week, the latter having been marked as a standout performance from the 5-piece. Their next musical venture will take place in late November at Other Voices’ Music trail in Dingle, Co. Kerry.
Cable Boy consist of frontman, Semilore Olusa, keyboardist Corneille Tshibasu, Guitarist Jason Aikhionbare, Bassist Liam Murray and Drummer Fionn Maguire O’loughlin.
