Three Sisters Garden Planting with Angela Ferguson of the Onondaga Nation Farm.
Saturday June 6th
11am- 3pm
at the garden next to 5430 Penn Ave Pgh, Pa 15206.
The annual planting of the Three Sisters Garden in collaboration with the Haudenosaunee Nation is an effort to tangably recognize and live the originial treaty between the Haudenosaunee and the Dutch Settlers. This garden plot is a dedicated speck of remembering and recognition we actively create and live with our hands.
Using our own saved seeds gifted to us, Pittsburgh, from the Haudenosaunee Nation, we'll plant them together in mounds according to tradition, then Angela will share stories about seed rematriation efforts, pre-European histories of the Pittsburgh area, and likely much more for what has always been an eseentially nourishing moment.
There will be a dry corn processing demonstration and potluck style food and drink. Feel free to bring something to share if you'd like.
*The setting is an urban farm, so the footing and seating is wonky varied and wonky. We'll have some chairs and a tent for shade, but please plan accordingly and reach out if you have any questions or concerns.
[email protected]
We hope to see you there!
