NOTE:

In Bangladesh, "pitha" (sometimes spelled "pitta") refers to a variety of traditional cakes, pastries, or sweets typically made from rice flour or wheat flour. Pithas are an integral part of Bangladeshi cuisine and are especially popular during festivals, celebrations, and winter months.

Here are a few common types of pitha:

  1. Bhapa Pitha: Steamed rice cakes often filled with coconut and jaggery.
  2. Chitoi Pitha: Small, flat rice cakes that can be served with sweet or savory accompaniments.
  3. Pati Shapta: Thin crepes filled with a mixture of coconut, milk, and jaggery.
  4. Puli Pitha: Dumplings made of rice flour, filled with sweetened coconut and jaggery, sometimes boiled in milk.
  5. Dudh Puli: Rice flour dumplings stuffed with coconut and jaggery, cooked in thickened milk.

Pithas are not just desserts but are also enjoyed as snacks and sometimes even as breakfast items. They represent the culinary creativity of Bangladeshi culture and often bring a sense of nostalgia and festivity. All proceeds will go towards Henna Foundations, Live Well and Breast Cancer Awareness projects.
