4-H is the youth development program of North Carolina Cooperative Extension. Pitt County 4-H offers Summer Fun – a series of educational camps designed to build life skills through shared experiences and handson learning. Youth must be 5 to 18 years of age as of January 1, 2023.
4-H Summer Fun Registration
The following are required, without exception, for 4-H Summer Fun Registration
1. Before Camp Registration: Enroll as 4-H member (not participant) at v2.4honline.com (includes health form, emergency contact, program liability waiver, photo, and transportation release, which covers 4-H membership for the rest of the year).
2. Register for camps beginning Monday, February 6th through our Pitt County 4-H Eventbrite Page.
3. Payment is required to complete registration. If paying with cash or check please bring cash or check made payable to "Pitt County" to the Pitt County Extension Office. Fees are due in full at time of registration to cover insurance and supplies. Waitlists do not require payment up front, but will be due if a space opens and you accept. See Cancellations Policies and Additional Information at then end of this guide. Additional information:
- The location of the camps will be listed on the ticket. All the camps will take place in Pitt County.
- Each camper must bring their own lunch, water bottle, snack, or sunscreen as needed for camp.
- Youth must be the age listed by the time of camp date.
Camps and Programs:Cloverbuds: Ages: 5-8
June 13th - Cloverbud Farm Animal Adventure: Cloverbud youth ages 5-8, will learn about farm animals In the fun hands on camp. You will get to meet and greet with goats, lambs, chickens, and rabbits. While also learning how to take care of them!
June 14&15 - Cloverbud Cooking around the World: Cloverbud youth ages 5-8, will learn hands-on experiences identifying things that are sharp, hot, and learning to be careful in the kitchen. Cloverbuds will learn about where a food item comes from and how it gets to the table. Youth will travel to Italy, China, and France!
July 6th- Tie Dye Camp: Let's get crafty with a little science. Come and learn how to tie-dye and enjoy some outdoor fun and games! Pillowcasea and t-shirts to tie-dye will be provided.
July 26 or 27: Lego Robotics Camps: This camp will use the LEGO WEDO 2.0 product that allows youth ages 5-12 to build robots using the LEGO pieces and then program the robot to perform different functions.
August 1: Cloverbud Candy Company: Why buy candy when you can make your own?! In this day camp youth will have fun making lollipops, chocolate fudge, and other tasty treats!
August 16: Cloverbud Bakers Dozen: In this one day camp youth will get learn how to bake up a few sweet treats that are often found In a "Baker's Dozen". Cloverbud youth will focus on cookies and cupcakes. Older youth will learn about donuts and pastries.
Ages 8 and up
June 21 & 22- Global Gourmet: Youth ages 9-12, will learn how to create rich and delicious meals from Mexico, Africa, Japan, India, Italy, Greece, and Germany as you explore food history, customs, and nutrition to better understand our world.
June 26-30 - Goat Camp - Ages 8-12:In this 5-day camp youth will learn the fundamentals of feeding, nutrition, health, facilities, washing, and showmanship of goats! At the end of the week, youth will show off their new skills in the show ring at our annual goat and lamb camp show!
June 26-30 - Lamb Camp - Ages 8-12: In this 5-day camp youth will learn the fundamentals of feeding, nutrition, health, facilities, washing, and showmanship of lambs! At the end of the week, youth will show off their new skills in the show ring at our annual goat and lamb camp show!
July 12 & 13: Spa and Relaxation Camp - Ages 9-14: Youth will focus on making homemade body products and learning different relaxation techniques to simulate a day at the spa. Campers will also travel offsite to Buff City Soap and a local spa to learn techniques from the professionals!

August 7-11 : Farm to Table Camp -Ages 9-12 : In this camp participants will learn about agriculture by visiting local farms, picking fruits and vegetables to later transform into delicious dishes. On the last day of camp, campers will participate in a Food Challenge Competition (Chopped style) to see which team can prepare the best dish! At the end of the week youth will walk away with new skills and a few kitchen goodies. This is an advanced cooking camp, to attend camper must be registered for Cooking 101 or have attended Farm to Table camp last summer.
August 4 - Fishing Camp - Ages 9-12: Spend the day learning to fish in the interactive and hands-on camp! Youth will meet at the 4-H office and then travel offsite to learn all the basics of making a great catch!

Teen Programs: 13 and up
June 21 & 22: Citizenship Focus: Ages 14-18 :4-H Citizenship North Carolina Focus is a two day conference where youth delegates participate in facilitated discussions and activities related to the importance of advocacy, local government, state government, and action planning. Through various conference sessions, delegates learn from leaders across the state and from other conference attendees.

July 17-20: Adulting 101: Ages 13 and up: Growing up Is hard! 4-H Adulting 101 Is here to help! This 4-H camp will provide teens with basic skills of adulthood such as: grocery shopping on a budget, cleaning and laundry, car maintenance and finances.
July 22-25: State 4-H Congress: Ages 13 and up: State 4-H Congress Is an annual educational event for 4-H Teens ages 13 and up. This conference will Improve delegates knowledge on current Issues, through guest speakers, discussion groups, workshop, etc. Youth will be involved in recreational and social experiences,exercise leadership skills and participate In the democratic process as we vote In our new state 4-H officers.
August 2&3: Can you Store It, Food Preservation: Ages 13 and up: In this two day camp, teens will learn about water bath canning and drying food preservation techniques.Youth will learn how to safely preserve fruit spreads, safely dry food and maintain quality and how to use these preserved foods in healthy recipes such as apple butter and fruit leather.
Teen Leadership Program : All Summer Long! : This program is designed to help students between the ages 13-18 develop leadership skills and workforce development skills through hands-on experiential learning opportunities. Leadership is the ability to be able to influence the thinking and actions of people. It is the willingness to try a new job and see it through. Leadership does not depend upon the amount of talent you have but upon what you do with your ability and how you get along with other people.
To participate youth must complete the following:
- Application (Eventbrite ticket)
- Attend Orientation Training TBA
- 40 hours of Leadership hours though the Pitt County 4-H Summer Program.
- 4-H Presentation (on topic of choice) County Activity Week: March 13-18
- Attend NC 4-H Congress July 22-25, 2023 In Raleigh, NC (optional).
Residential 4-H Camp Opportunity!
Are you ready to get out of town?
North Carolina 4-H has overnight camp opportunities for youth ages 8-14 that include fishing, canoeing, swimming, arts and crafts, and horseback riding!
Pitt County 4-H have spaces available for overnight for youth ages 8-14. July 2-7. Your week at camp includes lodging, meals, camp store money for breaks, a camp t-shirt, horseback riding, swimming, canoeing, fishing, arts and crafts, and more. Spaces are limited.
Pick up and drop off for both counties will be at the Pitt County 4-H Office.

2023 Camp Cancellation Policy
When you enroll your child in our program, you are reserving space, time, snacks/meals, supplies, and staffing whether or not your camper attends the program. In order to cancel a Camp Session, Pitt County 4-H will use the following deadlines for cancellations.
2023 Summer Day Camp
In order to cancel a Summer Day Camp program and receive a full refund, 4-H Staff must receive a written cancellation notice Two weeks prior to the first day of the program.
2+ week prior to camp = FULL Refund
1 week prior to camp= 50% refund
Less than 7 days before camp = No Refund.
