Synopsis

Alí, a young man from the city, travels through the Peruvian Andes in his old Volkswagen until an accident leaves him stranded on the property of Herme, an elderly woman living in the town of Quri Suncu. What begins with distrust gradually becomes an unexpected bond, especially through his friendship with Herme’s grandson and his encounter with a community whose way of life transforms him.

When Alí is offered the opportunity to lead a gold mining project that threatens to displace the people who welcomed him, he must choose between professional ambition and loyalty to the place he has learned to love.

Directed by Bismarck Rojas and starring Emanuel Soriano and Andrés Salas, Pirú, un viaje de oro is a warm and moving story about friendship across different worlds, the meaning of home and the human cost of progress.
