Volunteers are needed! *Registration is required.*Pinellas County will be installing the next phase of the living shoreline enhancement at Philippe Park in April. We will have several events in the future to create oyster bags and volcanoes, but the first two events will be January 11th and January 25th from 9:00am-12:00pm to create oyster volcanoes.
The GOALS of this project are:
*To improve water quality and provide additional aquatic habitat for wading birds, fish, and other organisms.
*To provide extra protection for the shoreline.
*To educate park visitors about living shorelines.
Minors 10+ are welcome (with a guardian in attendance if younger than 14). All participants will need to fill out a Liability Release Form in order to participate which will be available the day of the event. Bright Futures forms can be signed by County personnel if brought to the event.
On the day of the event, please note you will be working with wet cement, *YOU WILL GET DIRTY* so please wear appropriate clothing (and closed-toe shoes) that can get dirty, STAINED, and wet. Event details will be emailed to registered participants prior to the event.
Funding for this project is provided by Pinellas County and Tampa Bay Environmental Restoration Fund grant.
