Pine Flatwoods Hike

The Volusia County Explore Volusia program invites you to join Environmental Specialist Tommy Nordmann for a five-mile hike through pine flatwoods habitat at Deep Creek Preserve. We’ll take an in-depth look at this expansive habitat and discover how Volusia County Land Management maintains it.

** Important note: Please arrive 15 minutes prior to complete a waiver. Waivers must be completed in full to participate in the program.

ACTIVITY: This will be a moderate to difficult hike due to distance and trail conditions. (There may be standing water on portions of the trail; plan accordingly.)

RESERVATIONS: Required. Unless you have a confirmation email, you are not registered.

TICKETS: No printed ticket is necessary.

AGES: Ages twelve and up are welcome. Children must be accompanied by an adult.

ATTIRE: closed-toe shoes that can get muddy and wet, comfortable clothing for the outdoors

WHAT TO BRING: water, bug spray, sunscreen, snacks, lunch (There is a pavilion that is available following the hike.)

FACILITIES: There is a port-a-let on site but no running water.
