What is a β€œHelping Parent?”
A Helping Parent is a parent or guardian of a child with a disability, developmental delay, or ongoing medical need who has completed training from the Parent to Parent (P2P) Program.
Helping Parents are thoughtfully matched with families whose children have similar experiences or diagnoses. Through one-on-one emotional and informational support, they offer understanding, encouragement, and shared wisdom. At the heart of this connection is the message: "I’ve been thereβ€”I understand."

Pierce County Parent to Parent partners with The ARC of Washington and Pierce County Community Connections to provide support, information, and education for parents of children with disabilities and special healthcare needs.
This is the required training to become a 1:1 helping parent volunteer and support other parents who have just learned their child has a condition or need support for any reason.
