About this Event
Get creative at our FREE LGBTQ+ ceramic workshops!Join our LGBTQ+ workshops with artist Olivia Azzopardi to design and paint your own ceramic tile, expressing your personal story.
No art experience is necessary! All tiles created will form a large outdoor mosaic, symbolising our community's pride and diverse stories.
What is 'Pieces of Us'?
'Pieces of Us' is a creative project that translates queer stories into a powerfully visual and colourful community tile mosaic. We are running a series of free workshops for the local LGBTQ+ community, led by ceramic artist Olivia Azzopardi.
Each participant will get to design and paint their own ceramic tile, expressing their personal story and experience.
What's the final project?
All finished tiles will be assembled into a 1m x 1m mosaic. This final public artwork will be a lasting symbol of our community's identity and pride.
What will happen at the workshop?
This is a fun, interactive, and safe workshop where you can connect with other LGBTQ+ people. You will get to:
- Learn simple ceramic techniques like using pre-cut stencils and sgraffito (scratching).
- Paint your tile using colourful slips (liquid clay).
- Explore themes of queer history and identity. We'll have visual references and stencils inspired by queer-coded symbols, like violets (for sapphic love) and green carnations.
Who is this for?
These workshops are a safe, accepting, and LGBTQ+ inclusive space, open to all members of the LGBTQ+ community and allies. No artistic experience is needed at all!
Booking Information:
- Spaces are FREE but booking is essential.
- Each workshop is limited to 15 people. Please book a ticket for the specific date you wish to attend.
- Accessibility: Please let us know of any accessibility requirements when booking your spot so we can best support you.
