Picturesque Poole - Print Room Display
Following on from our successful Beautiful Bournemouth display, we now invite you to step back in time and explore recognisable Poole scenes through the years, from our collection. In this mini exhibition, we will be exhibiting works by notable Dorset artists and illustrators including Eustace Pain Elliott Nash, Henry Lamb and Philip Leslie Moffat Ward.
Philip Leslie Moffat Ward and Eustace Pain Elliott Nash, with their distinct styles and interpretations, have left an indelible mark on Dorset’s artistic heritage. Their works not only depict the physical landscape but also capture the spirit and vitality of this seaside town throughout its storied past.
Take in views of the Poole Harbour, with fishing boats and across to Brownsea Island, visit the Merry-Go-Round at Poole Fair, and wonder along Poole Quay. For locals, landmarks such as the Guildhall and the old Warehouses, still present today, will evoke nostalgic memories. You can also enjoy long-forgotten depictions of Poole’s industrial past, such as the old Kinson Pottery. The pieces in this mini exhibition, produced between 1875 and the 1940s, offer a unique perspectives, forming a mosaic of artistic expression that encapsulates the essence of Poole then and now.
