AN OLD FOLK PICNIC?
The hugely popular folk music band ‘Shades of Simon’ will be returning to Flatford Mill for the 3rd year running in July 2025 for what will almost certainly be yet another sell out performance of their highly’ acclaimed theatre style show ‘the Paul Simon Story’.
Flatford Mill is a renowned National Trust beauty spot just off the A12 in the heart of Constable country on the Essex/ Suffolk border. The concert is held in the garden area on the banks of the River Stour against the backdrop of the beautifully perserved 18th Century Old Granary building- an absolutely idyllic spot for a picnic!
People are welcome to bring their own picnic food and drink plus garden chairs or rugs. In addition, the National Trust cafe on site will be open for tea, coffee and snacks and bottled alcoholic drinks. Free parking and toilet facilities nearby.
The show is performed in tribute to Paul Simon as one of best songwriters of his generation and blends an engaging narration, exceptional musicianship from the 5-piece band, and authentic renditions of the best of his songs from his time in Simon & Garfunkel in the 60’s (Homeward Bound, Sound of Silence, Bridge over troubled water etc) through to his Graceland tour in the 1980’s (You can call me Al).
The band is comprised of professional level musicians who all share a love for Paul Simon's music and get together each Summer to do a limited number of Performances of 'The Paul Simon Story' at selected venues which have ranged from the majestic Knebworth House (home of many of the original 1970’s pop festivals!), picnic concerts for the National Trust at Wimpole Hall, Scotney Castle and Flatford Mill, and shows at provincial theatres and arts centres throughout the East of England. You can read unsolicited testimonials on our website at shadesofsimon.com
The band will be returning to one of their favourite venues at the National Trust's Flatford Mill CO7 6UL on Saturday 26th July 2025. 7pm - 9:30pm. We invite you to join us for the picnic concert - and to come early and enjoy a day in the beautiful countryside around Flatford Mill and include a visit to the site of John Constable’s iconic 1821 painting of The Hay Wain, and more…
Tickets are available now through TicketSource at £22.50 + booking fee. You will receive your tickets immediately by email. Ticket protection to make advance tickets refundable in the event of illness etc is available as an option for a small additional fee.
This will undoubtedly be another sell out concert so do please book early! We are also making a limited number of tickets available on an 'EarlyBird' offer at £20.00 each - so don't delay! For more information go to shadesofsimon.com/tickets
We are 100% confident that you will enjoy the show!
For info:
Please do not bring dogs, amplified music is not a suitable environment for them, or for babies & young children. Any children must be closely supervised at all times and kept well away from the river.
The concert should finish around 9:30pm. It'll just be getting dark by then so we recommend you bring a torch!
This is an open air event and the concert will go ahead whatever the weather, so please come suitably prepared!
Free parking available after 5pm in the National Trust car park approx 200 yards from the Gardens.
Gates open 6:00pm.
Concert starts 7:00pm
