Picnic & Play Day at Arena Green

Join us to celebrate San José’s Central Park – A Park Renewed with a community Picnic & Play Day at Arena Green East! Instead of a traditional ribbon cutting, we’re bringing the park to life through play, connection, and community.

The park will be buzzing with recreation and hands-on activities for all ages. The grass will be open for spikeball, soccer, cornhole, and more—so bring a picnic blanket, snacks, and come ready to connect with neighbors.

Professional sports teams including the San Jose Sharks, San Jose Earthquakes, and Bay FC will be joining the celebration. Professional women’s soccer players Danielle Slaton and Leslie Osborne will also be in attendance.

Enjoy food trucks from Spark Social SJ, meet adoptable puppies from RFRD Academy, and participate in activities hosted by community partners and local sports organizations.

Local community groups, sports leagues, and organizations will also be present including Guadalupe River Park Conservancy, Little Italy, PACSJ, Creekside Socials, San José Pickleballers, Silicon Valley Pickleball Coalition, California Cup Futsal, and many more.

This is an event put together by the community for the community, and everyone is welcome.

Info: Danielle Slaton is a Bay Area soccer legend, former U.S. Women’s National Team defender, Olympic silver medalist, and 2003 World Cup bronze medalist. A Santa Clara NCAA champion and Defensive MVP, she’s also a co-founder of Bay FC.

Info: Leslie Osborne is a retired U.S. Women’s National Team player and a 2007 World Cup bronze medalist. She won the 2001 NCAA Championship with Santa Clara University, earned the 2004 Honda Sports Award, captained multiple pro teams, and now co-leads Bay FC, inspiring athletes and fans.
