About this Event
Australians have long been recognised for their fashion-forward style, and, from the late 1930s to the early 1970s, PIX magazine was a trailblazer in bringing international fashion news to local audiences. This nostalgic ‘slide night’ with curator Margot Riley will showcase stunning fashion images from the PIX photo archive, accompanied by a relaxed chat focusing on the glamour and importance of fashion reporting as seen on the pages of PIX.
Margot Riley is a curator in the Collection Acquisition & Curation branch of the State Library of NSW. A cultural historian with special interests in art, popular culture, photography and dress, she has curated numerous exhibitions and displays for the Library, including Coming Out in the 70s and How's Tricks? Magic in the Golden Age. Margot is the curator of PIX: The magazine that changed everything (1938–1972).
